A visit starts with a visible profile
A profile view is counted after the public page renders in a visible browser tab. The editor preview does not generate a visit. Loading a hidden tab or a recognised preload does not immediately count as a view; JavaScript must send the event after the page is visible. Reloading the public page can add another view, including when you open your own public address.
A receipt prevents a retry from counting twice
Each eligible page document receives a random, signed receipt valid for 24 hours. If a network problem causes the same document to retry its visit, the receipt lets the server recognise that event instead of adding it again. It is not saved in a visitor cookie or browser storage, and it does not identify a person across different page loads. Expired receipts are cleaned up in batches; expiry is not a promise of immediate deletion.
A click is an eligible link opening
Profile links go through privtr/ee's redirect so the service can check that the block is still public before opening the destination. An eligible browser navigation adds a click to that link. Showing a card, loading a thumbnail or playing an embedded video does not add that link click. Watch on YouTube uses the link counter. Repeated openings may count again, and no external signup or sale is inferred.
Read the periods for what they are
The dashboard shows today, the last seven days, the current calendar month, the current calendar year and the total, using UTC dates. Link click counts are cumulative and the most-clicked links are highlighted. New view totals stay with your account if you change its address. Older measurements tied to historical profile names are kept separately, rather than attributed to the wrong account.
What profile statistics do not store
The current statistics tables contain aggregate counts and temporary receipt data, not visitor IP addresses, browser agents, referrers or persistent visitor identifiers. They do not produce a list of people, country reports or browsing histories. This claim is specific to profile statistics: network delivery, abuse prevention and operational logs can involve IP addresses or other connection data. It is not a promise that browsing the service is anonymous.
Understand exclusions and your controls
Recognised bots, previews and preloads are filtered, and Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control prevents this measurement. The owner can pause new visits and link clicks while retaining existing history and working links. JavaScript blocking, browser signals and filtering mean counts are not a census of every visit. Bot detection also cannot prove that every counted event came from a person. Use the figures as an indication of page activity.
